Mold Removal and Mold Remediation

Mold Removal

Mold removal can be dangerous, especially when dealing with black mold. Mold remediation stops mold growth and allows us to begin mold removal. This process starts by preventing further contamination. We set up a complete containment zone using a plastic decontamination barrier with negative air pressure to prevent the spread of mold spores. After an area is fully contained, we do a visual inspection. Upon visual inspection, 18 inches is measured from the edge of visible mold and all material within that radius is removed.

Mold is the unfortunate result of excess moisture making its way into your home. It can occur from natural sources, such as flooding or high humidity levels, but unexpected plumbing disasters may also be the culprit.

Mold Removal and Mold Remediation

Since spores are attracted to dark, shadowy spots, it can be difficult to detect the problem early on. Some members of your household may develop allergic reactions or sense the unpleasant smell, which can prompt you to investigate further. Whether you notice it or not, it’s never a bad idea to have a mold inspection in Las Vegas if your home recently took on any excess water.

It’s important to act fast if you have reason to suspect any kind of fungi in your home. These spores grow in colonies, which means they’ll spread to other surfaces if they find enough moisture to feed off of. A small problem can quickly become a big one if it’s not contained in time. This is especially true in bathrooms where steam from the sink or shower creates the perfect environment for mold to thrive.

This rapid rate of growth is the reason containment is so important to any remediation project. Once we know the issue isn’t going to escalate, we can focus on removing what’s already there.

Mold Remediation

Mold isn’t only attracted to wet surfaces; spores can also become airborne. Once this happens, it’s virtually impossible to detect without proper air filtration and testing. Even once surfaces are scrubbed clean, the home may not be completely rid of the problem.

If there is still mold in the air, it can quickly start to colonize again once conditions become damp enough. Airborne spores are also dangerous when they’re breathed in. When the infestation is in your air ducts, this can mean big trouble as the vents blow the mold particles throughout your home. All of these issues make remediation an essential step of the process.

After all moldy material is removed, we seal off all the cracks and crevices that we cannot actively clean. Once all mold has been removed and the air is cleaned through a HEPA filter, we have a 3rd party industrial hygienists measure for mold spores outside the area and compare it to a second measurement within the previously affected area. A passing score is to have fewer mold spores inside than outside.

At Raysco, Inc., we strive for zero spores or a non-detected result after the mold removal and restoration, to ensure your home is safe and clean. Although this is not guaranteed, we achieve zero spores about 80% of the time and we are working very hard to get that other 20%. To achieve a zero-spore result, we at Raysco, Inc take the proper steps to remove all the mold by utilizing 18" or greater extended cuts, proper disposal of contaminated materials, and thorough cleaning of the entire area. Without these proper steps, mold will eventually grow back.

Restoration

After removal, remediation, and air scrubbing are complete, it is time to put everything back the way it was. Raysco, Inc. has partnered with AAMCO Construction for all your restoration needs. They are fully licensed and bonded for your protection.

Air Duct Cleaning

Air duct cleaning and maintenance is URGENT if you notice any kind of mold growing in any area of your house. The biggest issue with microbials is that they grow by releasing spores into the air. When those spores land on a wet surface, they begin to grow and colonize that area as well. It is important to note that insulated air ducts are more susceptible to getting wet causing mold to grow quite easily and spread throughout the structure. If you have witnessed mold or have insulated air ducts, it is important to regularly clean your air ducts.

Mold Removal Cost
